What kind of deposit do dealer require when ordering??

Assuming things work out with the incentives (i.e. 0% financing being available when I take delivery) I'd like to just finance the whole purchase price....nothing like free money!

So what kind of deposits are dealers requiring? I would think if you order something that isn't too much of an odd ball they aren't worried about trying to sell it.

FYI - I'll be ordering F-250 KR V10 LWB 4x4. The V10 is the only odd thing about it....

You think each dealer may be different???

I gave the dealer 500 at the sit down, that was all they wanted. along with some agreement paper saying that i will buy this truck when it comes in.

Yes, each dealer is different.

I have never put any money down or signed any paperwork when ordering a vehicle nor will I deal with a dealer that requires it.

That was my thought. There are so many dealers within 30 min of me that I don't think I'll have to.

It's not like I am ordering a regular cab F350 XL SB DWR 5.4 4x4 ......think that might be the oddest combo right??

Now that I think about it I think I remember someone on this site ordered one like that and had to leave a deposit, which I kinda understand.

why would you care ? If the truck is what you want why wouldn't you want it? If you can't afford or get financed then don't order it. If you are worried about a damaged truck/ misbuilt you would not be obligated to take it.It is just procedure to take a deposit.without one the vehicle is available for sale.

Not worried about affording it or getting financing, believe me if that's a problem for a $45k truck I shouldn't be buying it.

Would want to finance the entire purchase, free money from Ford is hard to pass up. Don't want to get stuck paying a deposit only to have the truck take 3 months to show up and then the '09s are available......

there isn't going to be any huge changes in '09, maybe a very small thing here or there or some option changes, but nothing worth waiting for. Go buy the truck, or order it and wait like everybody else is or was. The longer you wait the longer you aren't going to have a sweet Truck.

It's not been mentioned definitively, but I bet one option that will be available on the 09's will be the SYNC system. And I suspect the unused black "button" on the right hand side of the steering wheel in the cluster for audio or hvac controls will be where you activate it.

I realize this doesn't pertain to OP, but someone mentioned 09's and options.

Couldn't agree more. If the dealer wants anything from me to place the order, I'm outta there.

Well I called around and found one dealership asking for $300 down but they'll refund it, no questions asked. So I placed my order on Saturday, now I just gotta get a hold of an X-Plan Pin, and figure out at what stage my new truck will get a VIN assigned so I can start getting her tracked on BOF.

Try this

You can request one from a Ford employee on blue oval news.

Here's a link
