X-plan pin question

I am probably going to order an 08 when i get back from vacation, now that they came out with 0% financing. I may see if they can find what i want first, but most likely will order as i have a pretty specific list of options, etc.. Should i try and get an x-plan pin now, or wait until it comes in? I thought i heard somewhere that they are only good for 30 days or something like that? How long should i expect it to take to order a truck, need it before spring. Thanks as always.

I would order one as soon as possible or as your finances allow as I still see people waiting severl several weeks for their ordered trucks to be delivered...

The X plan rules state that you must tell the dealer you're an X plan customer up front. If you order and wait for it to come in before getting the PIN you have violated the rules.

And Mark is right, the PIN is good for one year from date of issue. On some other websites where people offer PINS they have made a rule that the PIN is only good for 30 days. The issuer can cancel the PIN at any time, but Ford doesn't have a 30 day rule.

Ford gives employees a limited number of X-Plan PINs to give out to "friends and neighbors". Then Ford gives incentives to those employees to be sure the PINs get used by the friend to buy a new Ford. So your new "friend" that gives you a new PIN wants to be sure you're going to use it soon, so he can receive his incentive.

Some folks want to keep an X-Plan PIN in their pocket, "just in case". But Ford employees don't want to waste one of their PINs on those folks. So some will warn you up front that they will give you a PIN only if you plan to use it real soon now.

But the Ford employees are usually nice folks that understand it takes more than thirty days to order and receive a new truck. So talk to your new friend and explain what's going on with your order. He knows you can use the PIN only on delivery, so if you agree with him that you'll order immediately, he'll probably be glad to hold off on cancelling your PIN until your new truck is delivered.

Anyone have an extra one laying around, i found what i wanted at a dealership pretty close (160 miles)! Leaving tomorrow for vacation, but wanna take some action when i get back. I told them I had one to see what they would say, and they said that's fine, and gave me the x-plan prices. I am glad i looked, it is really close to what i was gonna order, and i won't have to wait, and/or screw up the incentives!
