49 State V10 3V vs 50 state V10 3V

I’ve finally found the exact truck I’ve been searching for: a low mileage 2008 F350 4x2 dually V10 6spd manual (sadly a rare bird) and it’s a 49 state truck…I'd need to register it in CA. DMV says the truck must have a minimum of 7500 miles on it to be eligible for registration as a “non resident vehicle” but it still needs to pass CA smog.– Anybody know if a 49 state V10 3V is significantly different than a 50 V10 3V as far as emissions/CA smog testing?

Many thanks for any input

I may be wrong, but I didn't think there was much if any difference any more, between the 49 state and CA. except for the certification paperwork.

Your problem is interesting. I went to the Sunrise Ford configuration site Sunrise Ford Fleet - Build and Price Your New Ford to see what would happen if I tried to build a truck to your specifications. A 50 state smog requires a 99R engine. 49 state requires a 99Y engine.

That doesn't answer your question. An expert in this field would be Bobby Williams of Sunrise Ford. Bobby is the Fleet Manager. Try emailing him to see if he has a quick answer. bwilliams@sunrisefordfleet.com>

I do not have much experience with the non-california emissions gasoline engines, but if I recall correctly, it's only an emission label under the hood. I would say as long as the truck has a minimum of the 7,500 miles on it you should be good to go.
