Any Updates on the Demise of the V-10?

I had heard that the V-10 was running on borrowed time and there was the 6.2L V-8 (the new F-150 Raptor engine) slated to replace it sometime in 2010. Has anyone heard if this has become a solidified reality? I want to get in on an order before the V-10 is nixed, but I'd like to wait until later this spring to order. I can't seem to find a 2008 with the $8,000 rebate in a V-10 that is remotely close... let's say 1,500 miles away is the best I can do, so I'm probably going to have to look at a 2009.

I'd get the truck you want, then fly in and drive it home........1,500 miles away is a pretty cheap flight.

I've heard rumors, but have yet to see any REAL brochures or other documentation.

The bad thing is, the 6.2L V8 is going to only put out 400ft/lbs of torque in it's present configuration. Given that the 3-valve V10 peaks at 462ft/lbs, and the 10-cylinder setup lends itself to better low-end torque, I think Ford is doing the wrong thing.

But what do I know

I hope if Ford does cancel the V10, they go ahead with the proposed 7.0 boss V8, that will have enough torque. 400 torque is not enough for the towing applications! If not, I'll be keeping my V10's for a very long time.

Why would Ford can the V-10? It's their own fault, they don't make it available very often, I had to send to Oklahoma to get mine. All the trucks down here have the diesel or the pukey V-8. I have always thought it should be standard in the SuperDuty.

It is standard in the F450, F550, and DRW F350 cab chassis trucks.
