Black soot in tailpipe of V-10?

Have a 2008 350 CC with 5500 miles and if you stick your finger in the tailpipe you would almost think its a diesel, you can even see the soot approx 1/4inch up on the outside of the tailpipe...anyone else experience this? any ideas, truck seems to run fine and gets approx 13.5 mpg empty and about 8.5 with a pickup camper and boat in tow.... thanks for the help!!

I have almost 19k on mine and I haven't noticed any soot at all. I am running a Diablosport Predator programmer in the mid-performance 91 octane setting and love the way it runs. I am runnig from 3500' to 8500' elevation, so if it was to show soot, it would definately show up on mine.

By any chance, did you put any leaded gas in?

No sir, no leaded fuel anywhere near here, when i say soot its not quite like a diesel, but if you look in pipe it looks black, and when you stick your finger in it, it comes out somewhat black, not as bad as a diesel though.....seems to run great but i will have them look at it when i take it in for the fuel tank update.

All Gas engines will leave soot in the pipe. some heavier than others. long idle, stop and go traffic and heavy loads will do it. most likely you are burning rich do to the camper and boat

6k on my '08 F250 PSD. Absolutely NO soot.

You have a point there. That could be true. So when did you have your last tune up?
