Alright guys, Ford just came out with 0% for the month of February. I'm looking at a F350 and a F250. Supercab, XLT, 20's. and someother bells and whistles. I do some light towing anything from a Large Kubota Tractor, to Loads of Hay, or a gooseneck 3 horse trailer. Looking for Recomendations on Engines. 5.4 or V10? I don't tow to often, and would like to know MPG's for both motors. Thanks Dave
I would opt for the V10 if it were me. The V10 is only about $700 option and the mileage I don't think would be that drastic of a differance, maybe 1 to 1.5 mpg if that. You get a lot more power than the V8.Get the 350 it isn't much more $ than the 250 and you can legally haul more weight.
Mileage will be similar between 5.4 and 6.8, but you'll get there much quicker with the V-10. For what you are towing, the 250 will do just fine, especially with the right add-ons. PM me and I will send you a copy of my sticker.

dlaprad7093, If you are even thinking about towing anything i would say get the V10. I was told by numerous people the same thing. As far as the options, that is all up to what you like. My only suggestion is check out the crew cab over the supercab. There is a pretty big difference in space.

I also haul hay, a Kubota tractor, and a 3 horse goose. My F250 gets 14 mpg highway and 9 mpg stop and go city. It gets the same 9 mpg towing a 10,000 lbs gooseneck horse trailer. If you get the F250 with the camper package it adds some weight carrying capability plus stabilisers. My F250 is rate 9600 GWR.

you must have a 2wd because I just got a 4x4 and I am thinking I made a huge mistake.Mileage sucks!I will see how it goes with the break-in but I thought I would get better than 10mpg hwy

With a 5.4 and a 3.73 rear, I doubt you will see much better. You'd have been better off with a F-150 as it is at least 1,000 lbs lighter and you could have added air bags when you towed. My wife's Lincoln LT gets 15 all day long in town with her 5.4 and a 3.73 rear. My V-10 with a 4.10 is getting around 11-12 with combo town/highway.

Yes 2wd, it now has 5500 miles on it and the mileage has not changed since new. the 4x4 will cost you about 1-2MPG. In my normal mix of driving I get 11-12MPG. the 14MPG was on a 800 mile highway trip.
I looked at the MPG for the diesel 6.4 and figured the V-10 would do everything I need and cost less to operate. At 8-9K miles a year it should last a long time.
