Our 'Cow Boss' has a new 2008 F350 with the V10 and a manual transmission. Fuel is obtained from a farm tank and he uses injector cleaner on occassions. The truck is almost never on the highway and is never driven long distances.
He is complaining about 'ping' when accelerating and notices it more when towing the stock trailer. Does this sound like a fuel issue or does the beast have to see the highway to get cleaned out?
I don't know the answer to your question, but here's my take. I have an '08 V-10 with the Torqueshift Automatic and a 4.10 rear. I have towed heavy on 4 different occasions from Idaho to El Paso and back over those nasty mountains, and I never had a single ping. I have installed the Diablosport Predator programmer in the "middle" 91 octane tow/performance setting and this truck hauls balls. They also have a 93 octane, super performance setting, but I have kept it on the middle setting for over 25k of my 32k miles. No use in messing with success IMHO. This truck kicks butt and never complains and is easy on the pocket book compaired to a diesel. You might give the Predator a try.

I am going to sample his fuel source and will see if anything rears up there. We will look into your programmer and install it without the 'Cow Boss' being aware! This way we will hear how the truck is running based on his own 'seat of the pants' discovery.
Will post when results are in.
I have only driven the truck once so I cannot comment....I HEARD NADA!
I too suspect fuel supply issues as his tank is older than me and has not had a lot of tlc over the years.
I will not try a programmer until the fuel is checked/passed and only then will we attempt to bring 'Cow Boss' into the new age!
P>S> Another issue may be the farm dye???
I took the V10 for a cruise with CowBoss in the passenger seat. Cutting to the chase....I could not make the truck ping in any situation although my mostly deaf friend could 'hear it a little'....
I am calling a false alarm as this truck real seems very responsive when revved a bit, and in fact, if the diesel situation does not remedy itself in the near future, I would consider the V10 in a flash!
