Mobil 1 in new gasser

Im looking for information regarding using Mobil 1 Synthetic in a new motor. I believe I read where that is not a good choice until the motor is broken in.

What is considered broken in? Is there any quality information online that supports this thought? I looked at Mobil and they dont address any break in period.

Thanks.
Bruce

my understanding is using full synthetic oil will slow done the break-in process. I did put mobil 1 in my 04 5.4 v8 with approx. 2000 miles and now the motor has 42,000 miles on it with no problems. it seems that the new motor do not feel like they have full power until about the 20,000 mile mark. hope this helps

My owners manual states Motorcraft full synthetic oil is recommended. My dealer offers free oil changes and they use Motorcraft full synthetic from a bulk tank. They also state that Motorcraft synthetic is in the engine when new and is made by Mobil but we all know dealers make up crap as they go along.

According to my dealer, the Motorcraft oil used from their bulk is all synthetic. Because of that, breakin does take longer for rings to seat. The more you work it, the shorter the time, but figure on 15-20k before you will feel the difference.
