A new 5-litre gasengine before 2010?

A new MOD/Triton?
.
There are several indications of a new 5-liter ( bored up from the current 4,6-litre) and changed engineblockmaterial due to the thinner walls after the new bore. The engine might be produced in the recently closed Essex Factory in Canada and the block will be poured at CCP Cleveland or Tupy Brazil. The Cleveland foundry is expected to close before 2010 but this might change that decision. The local UAW are claiming that they can make the new material as good as Tupy. 5 liter engines with CGI ( Compacted Graphite Iron) are dominating the NASCAR-racing and some 80 % of them are using this hightech material. Until now the main use has been in new V-diesels like Navistars new 11 and 13 litre Maxforce Big Bores, but a breakthrough even in gas engines is expected. The mentioned and very huge investment in Canada will be decided in a few days from now. The engine is slated for Mustangs and other in that class. The five litre engine is said to be considerably more fuel efficient than other Ford engines while still offering strong horsepower and torque. It would be nice to see Ford once again with a V8 that puts other manufacturers' V8s to shame.Ford needs a new block to design a world-beater V8 engine - there is no way around it. I think the engine is ready for testing and it has passed "point of no return"

sounds good, but I'm more excited about the 6.2L BOSS and ecoboost motors coming out in 2010. I'm sure the SD will never see the 5.0 or ecoboost motors. My guess is strictly diesel and the 6.2L kinda like GM's powertrain options. The F-150 will definitely get all the cool new motor options. The Mustang as you said is a go for the new 5.0
