Ordering V10 this week...4.10's or 4.30's?

So I can't decide on axle ratio. I do not plan to tow often or heavy. Mostly will be a family hauler. But I may end up putting 33's or 35's on the truck eventually. My thinking is that the 4.30's would make more sense since the 35's tires will bring the axle ratio back closer to 4.10's, BUT I will be running the stock tires and wheels until the time comes to replace them. So let me know your experiences with mpg with big tires, stock tires, and the two axle ratio choices please. I know these trucks don't get good mileage and that lifting one is really going to kill it, but I'd like to start off with the right equipment.
Thanks,
Jerry

It all depends on the tires and where the V10 will be comfortable as far as rpm and torque optimization goes, too much rpm and it will just be a screamer and no torque, too low and it might bog down.....

I would pick 4.10, but that's me.

I'm leaning toward the 4.10's, but I'm concerned about when I decide to install bigger tires. Although stock tires are 31.5 to 33" tall depending on options, so I doubt the 35 will make a big difference. Plus it will be a long while before I am "allowed" to put bigger tires on or even buy a McDonald's burger, after I spend this coin!
LOL!

Seriously, the V10 isn't going to see much of an MPG difference with 4.30's vs. 4.10's.

If you plan on putting bigger tires on it, get the 4.30's.

If you do any stop-and-go driving, the 4.30's will help the city MPGs because they put less of a load on the engine, as long as you can stay out of the go-pedal

And, for the time you'll have the stock tires on it, it won't make a big difference.

Plus, who knows what you'll plan on doing with it later on? An RV might be very attractive after you get used to your new Superduty. Good luck with whatever you choose!

Yeah, the 4.30's are looking better. It's only 50 bucks to get them now. To swap gears later would be expensive. I do all my own work, but don't do gears (don't have the tools to do it the right way the first time) Besides, if 4.30's end up being too low.....shucks/darn........I HAVE to buy bigger tires to "help" the mileage out. It's a good angle to work with on the wife when I get the bug to lift/mod the truck.

If you pm me, I'll send you a copy of my window sticker. Make sure you order the snow plow option, even if you never plan on plowing snow. For the $75 snow plow option, you get alot of extra goodies.

THERE you go

Pappy, the only thing I would worry about with the plow package is the ride.

The "heavy-service suspension" might be a better option.
