I have a 08 F250 with a 5.4 v8. I am having a slight bump or slipping action in the rear axle. Is anyone having the same trouble. I notice it in stop and go traffic. Once I take my foot off the brake and go to the gas I feel the bump or slip happen. I have had no break downs or sounds that I can hear. The truck has Limited Slip stock. Help please!

COULD possiblythe slip yoke. Have the splines lubed with teflon grease, nothing else.

Search the forums for slip-yoke lube, this sounds like a classic symptom..........

Maybe a ujoint with a flat spot? Or excessive play in the pinion?
Is it still under warranty? If so, I'd get it in and see if you're not having other issues in the rearend. fwiw, I had to have all new rear wheel bearings put in on my 2000 F250, right at around the 50k mile mark. At that point, I don't think I had towed anything any heavier than a 2,000 pound trailer. Might be worth checking. just my .02 cents worth

Thanks for the info I think that it may have to much backlash in the pinion. Has anyone else with the 08 year model noticed this on there truck? I have been reading and think I want to restack the clutch stacks for more traction as well. Have you tried doing that and if so is it a lot of work, can it be done without taking the whole diff out and a part?
Well I must report that I got my truck into a dealer today with the slip or bump problem and got it fixed!!! The first dealer had no one to fix it, second dealer said that it was normal(go figure that), and third dealer listen, and drove the truck compared it to a new one. The problem is that the slip yoke needed greasing. I had called myself greasing the slip yoke but I guess not the way he did it. He took the slip yoke out a part and cleaned it with brake cleaner first then applied the blue teflon grease (heavy) to the yoke splines working in by sliding the yoke on the drive shaft until it took the grease in. It worked no more bump or slip feeling in the diff. He also ruled the basklash in the diff at my request. Iam still inclinded to change the oil in the diff to synthic without L/S additive so it will hook up more and not slip so easy. Thanks for all the help that was giving on this problem.
Glad that took care of your problem. I have found that most noise problems associated with "underneath" will start out with a slip-yoke situation and if that doesn't fix the problem, then it's usually a U-joint situation. On my 2002, I had a "squeel" sound that I KNEW was a brake problem or an inner bearing problem. I changed out both front sides and still had it. I finally had the slip-yoke taken apart and greased and no more sounds.
