Is the V10 here to stay a while longer?

Ok, so I'm searching this forum, doing some research, and I find a few posts about Ford canning the V10? I'm ordering one this week, so I know the engine is available now (hopefully still available in two days when I order! LOL!) but have they pushed back the date when the plan to can it? Just curious. I have made my decision. I want the V10! I just have to decide colot and gearing! Leaning toward the 4.10's (even if I run bigger tires of 35") and I think I want the Sterling Grey. Oh, decisions!

It has been rumored they are killing it for the past 2-3 years. The 6.2L Boss has been rumored to be replacing both the 5.4 and the V10.

However, I have also heard from some Ford insiders (on another web site) that the V10 is going to stick around through the 2010 model year.

See my other post about gears

I bought my 2002 7.3 after it had been on the Ford diesel rigs for 3 years and it was dumped half way through the 2003 models. The 6.8 V-10 has been around for 10 years and maybe more, we'll see. I think it's the best engine Ford has made in a long time, especially for tough usage. Just look at the number of A and C class RV's that have the Ford V-10 in them and compair that with any other engine, including ALL diesels. Funny how many are V-10's....all because of the major reason...reliability and power. You can't go wrong with the newer V-10's coupled with the TorqueShift tranny. It's a really boss setup. I have the 4.10 rear and it's a nice compromise, with plenty of power and decent mileage. If you tow alot, then by all means go with the 4.30. Either way, the V-10 is the engine of choice for the F series, IMHO.

Pappy,
I am going to the dealer tomorrow to hopefully order the truck...if the price is agreeable! Not sure yet on the gears....leaning toward the 4.30's now. Here's why.....it's a 50 dollar option and is only 4.88% lower than the 4.10's. I don't know the overall ratios, but I thought someone here said that with 4.10's at 70mph the V10 as spinning at ~2500rpm. Well, with 4.30's that only goes up to about 2600rpm. If that 100rpm's makes a huge difference than I guess I'll HAVE to install larger tires to help it out. See the angle I'm working here...heehee.
