Variable valve timingon V10 for 08?

It was my understanding the V10 did NOT have VVT, but the service writer insists that it does.

The V-10 does have the 3-valve induction, but not the variable valve timing. The 5.4L has both.

If I had to guess, it's because the VVT stuff won't fit in under the valve cover along with the V-10 balance shaft. Although adding even more power to the V-10 would be awesome, I wouldn't want the added expense or complexity. As it is, the 3-valve V-10 is simply awesome, and is one of the most under-appreciated engines out there. Strong and silent.

If I could have found a V-10 in a CC LB 4x4 XL, I probably would have bought it. But alas, the lots are full of LOADED diesel Lariats and the like. Not for me, thanks. I don't need $50,000 of pimped ride sitting in the barn as a secondary vehicle.

I am not saying this to knock the Powerstroke or any diesel pickups for that matter. I have owned a '83 Ford 6.9, '96 7.3, a VW diesel pickup, and a 2002 SD Powerstroke 7.3 (great truck), but I have to say that my new V-10 is one of the very best running trucks I have ever owned. Yes, the mileage is a little less than a diesel, but the difference in the price of the diesel engine, combined with the maintenance issues, and the difference in the price between gas and diesel, more than makes up for a few miles per gallon difference. For me, with all of the new EPA required nonsense, not to mention future BS on diesels, I am here to stay with a gasser, and the new V-10 is a very under-rated engine. If you have never driven one, you are missing out.

We have a v10 inour 08' 14" box truck and empty it is truly a dissapointment. 7.4MPG and the high rpm power band is not for me.

I notice my 4.6L crown vic is similar as compared to old v8's, higher power band.
