My son was appointed to the USMA prep school, West Point

Time has flown for me over these last two years, with all the activities my son has had me involved in working to gain an Appointment to a Service Academy. My son started out with an application to the USNA and was DQ'd last July at his DoDMERB physical for color vision deficiency!!!....bad day but, it forced him to work on his USMA (West Point) application. Last December, with my friend Roofeditor joining us at the Congressman's office, my son was able to pull out the "Prime Nomination" and that ultimately won him his appointment to the United States Military Academy Prep school this July. He'll have to do 10 months there, and then join the Class of 2014 at West Point the following July.

Higgins knows how hard this process is and I guess I'll see him at the Army Navy game later this year lol
Go Army, beat Navy.

Excellent news! The Naval Academy is one of the finest schools in the Nation.

Graduates of the Naval Academy (and the Air Force/Army equivalents) get both a top-notch education, but obtain leadership skills. Harvard and other Ivy League colleges are not on the same playing field.

My son moved on to the United State Military Academy at West Point last Monday (28 June) after Graduating West Point Prep in May.

Here is the little guy chuggin along with the rest of the new cadets last week. He's all the way to the right with the shaved head.

Go Army!

John,

I just bought my Truck in April, but didn't join the site until today. Part of the reason why I joined this site was to say congrats to you and your son.

I'm a graduate of the USAF Academy in 2007 and my little brother just graduated from USMA in 2010.

Congrats to you. Your son is going to get more out of the next 4 years than in the previous 19 put together. It is an amazing experience, education, and opportunity. He will make friends that nobody can put a wedge between and bonds that he will have forever.

Help him through the rough times (there will be many) and you'll be a proud dad come graduation week.
