Hi Tuckman,
Mobil jet oils, or just about any jet oil, is NOT a good substitute. I know, I have formulated both.
1. Viscosity of JO is too low, about 3 to 5 cSt verses 8.5 to 12.5 cSt for PCMO motor oils. Diesel MO's are usually 15W40's and run a high viscosity oil of about 15 cSt,
2. base oils - most JO's are pure ester based and are not compatible with automotive seals,
3. additive packages is not the same, jet oils only contain a small amount of specialized anti-oxidants; motor oils have anti-oxidants, anti-wear, metal deactivators, rust inhibitors, detergents/dispersants, etc. Soot control would be next to nothing with a JO.
Very bad idea.
