The alternator and other stuff got here while I was out of town. Opened the box yesterday and was pleased by what I saw. Ed had even thrown in a new cable and harness, as well as the front housing he said he was sending.

For what I paid for it, I think it's a better deal than the new Chinese NAPA unit that I put on my truck.

It hasn't gotten here yet, but I'll let you know. Sure can't hurt to have a few more amps keeping the batteries up. But my truck doesn't even need an alternator right now. I developed a serious coolant leak back on Dec 2 that caused me to have no heat in the cab and no visible leakage to the outside. Then I pulled the dipstick and found where the coolant went - into the oil pan. It's scheduled to go into Different Strokes sometime this week hopefully to get it ripped apart and fixed. Nothing simple like the oil cooler. From all the evidence, it's a blown out o-ring type gasket between the front cover and the block, dumping coolant directly into the timing gear space and into the pan. No oil contamination in the coolant, and it lost about 1 gal on a 10 mi test drive yesterday.

My original alternator crapped out after 145k miles when the brushes wore thru the commutator on the rotor. Pretty much toast. I put a new Napa Chinese built one on for now.
