Years ago you posted a set of instructions on how to drop a tranny on a 2000 F350. I used it back in 2004 and it was way better than other instructions I had. Since I've moved to Tx I seem to have lost the file. Is there any chance you still have them in your archives?
I would really be gratefull

1989 F250 7.3 diesel 4wd - Is there a fuel pump in the front tank because I replaced fuel pump in the engine and still have a problem on the front tank? Back tank works fine. What do you think it could be?

I'm looking at getting a DP-Tuner for my 2K F450. I sent James from DP Tuner an email about getting a custom tune. I provided my truck information and mentioned that I have the Ford AIS and he told me that "the AIS is for Severe duty applications and is way out of its range on any truck that is not completely stock 100%. So unless you drive on a ranch or dusty roads every minute of every day that filter is way too restrictive and will actually hinder performance with our chip."
He recommended that I replaced my AIS with an AFE. Do you think I would have any issues if I kept my AIS? I'm looking at getting the DP-Tuner F5 chip.
2001 F250 diesel has a GCWR of 20,000 pounds, but that's not your limiter. Your limiter is the 8,800 pounds GVWR.
If GCWR were your limiter, the max 5er you could tow without exceeding the GCWR would be around 12,500 pounds. (20,000 pounds GCWR minus 7,500 pounds weight of the wet and loaded tow vehicle before you backed up to the 5er.)
But if your wet and loaded tow vehicle weighs 7,500 pounds, that leaves only 1,300 pounds for max hitch weight before you're overloaded. A 5er with 1,300 pounds hitch weight will have around 16% to 18% hitch weight, so call it 17%. 1,300 divided by 0.17 = 7,647. So any 5er that grosses more than about 7,647 is going to overload your tow vehicle over the GVWR of the tow vehicle.
Smokey,
I hope you can clear things up for me regarding 5th wheel towing capacity with my 2001 F250 7.3. I have been reading these and other forums on this subject and the more I read the more confused I get, you seem to have a firm grasp of the reality.
I have had a couple of 5th wheels, boats and so on, most all of them under 7k, So the tow ratings hasn't been a concern. I'm looking to purchase a 5th wheel that is @ 11.5k with a 14k gross. my owners manual says I'm good to go fo 12.5k,others are ! 13.5k and up to 16k, sheesh.
I'm subtracting my 8800gvw from the 20k cgvw and come up short of the 12.5k. (I have no intention of loading this unit up any past 12.5k) I really don't want to push the limits here, I just don't know where the limits are.

My Sierra Blanca in the sig pic was a great pickup for 11.5 years. I sold it a coupla years ago. I drove a hand-me-down 2003 F-150 SuperCrew 4.6L 2V for a while, but it was unacceptable for towing more than a rowboat. Replacement is a 2012 F-150 EcoBoost SuperCrew Lariat that tows my 5,000-pound TT like a dream.
