Deleted Answers in Threads

Is there a way in the forum software that when you delete a answer to a question that gets deleted that it doesn't delete all the other post below the offending answer?

I am a moderator on an RV site and if the "abilities" are the same, a mod can delete single or multiple posts on any given thread.

There may have been a discussion between mods as to which post(s) get deleted.

I'm a mod also on another forum and you can pick and choose which to delete and which ones not to. If there is good information below the deleted post I will usually just say that the post was deleted so that others will figure out just what happened.

Hi,

Mods should be able to do the same here. There are little white check boxes on the right hand side of each post. A mod can check mark off the ones they want to delete and perform the moderation task.

Thanks I thought that they could do it that way.

Could you perhaps ask the mods if they might consider doing it that way?

The way that they do it mostly now is to delete everything from the offending post on down and in doing it that way they delete some useful information.

I can't speak for the other guys, but I generally only delete offending posts. Sometimes, when a thread turns into a flame war more than just the first offending post gets deleted. It gets difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff when that happens. All members can help by reporting an offending post as soon as it appears on the thread.

If you have specific questions about moderation, please PM myself or one of the other moderators. We won't discuss moderations in the public forums.

X2. I check the box of the offending post and move it to moderated threads. What post are you referring to?

Hey there,

As mentioned above, we tend to delete the offending posts, then keep everything below.
Can you provide us with some links to threads you are referring to?

Richard.
