How much of a cost to paint a truck topper?

I found a fiberglass topper for my F250 8' box but it is the wrong color. Any idea on what I might expect to get one painted?
I found the correct color topper for $1000 and a wrong color topper for $400.

You are going to have to check around your local area. What it would cost me where I am located isn't close to what you are going to have to pay.

Just check around at a few auto body shops.

Thanks for the reply Bugman. That is just what I did today after the dentist. Here is what I found.....
Chevy dealer- $375 for the last one they did so about the same for mine.
Ford dealer- $500 to $600 and he is asking me if I want to remove the windows or just tape them off. I said I don't know, your the paint guy. He went as low as $400 to tape around the windows.
Local paint shop well established- $350 with no body work, just scuff it and paint it.

Now I know.

Something to think about with painting the topper vs just buying one in the right color to begin with- any scratches will show the old color. And you're only ~$200 from spending the same money once you paint the other color. Are you planning on dumping the truck soon? Then I could see saving the $200; otherwise I'd want the "real thing". But I do keep mine a long, long time.

MN...Like fxd saying..May/maynot be worth price diff. (right color VS repaint) but I'm not paying bill. lol! Maybe you know, but pre paint prep "extemely important". Then what kind of paint used, how many coats & how cured ? Good luck on what ever you decide.

Sandpaper, tape and spray bombs from sherwin williams. $80. I did one last summer for a co worker and it matched up real good, looked like the body shop painted it.

If your truck is a basic color white, black, gray look at plasti-dip as a cheap solution. I picked up a NICE topper for my 97 Dodge for $125! But my truck is gray and the topper is maroon. Cheapest quote I got to paint it was $400 then my cousin told me about plasti dip. Look them up I'm the net easy to use and touch up if need be!
