A Human Life is worth $7,887, says OSHA

OSHA has cited the parent company of West Fertilizer Co. in West, Texas, for 24 violations of occupational health and safety regulations, and fined West Fertilizer $118,300 for the explosion that killed 15 and injured 200 people.

The dollar amount of the fine is probably the lesser concern for the company involved. More important is the fact OSHA's findings and actions will bolster the standing of the victims. And, subsequent legal fees and settlements will be in the multi-million dollar range.
