That sounds like a Great idea to me! maybe after this fiasco more of these Gas stations will put in Generators to Run the Pumps, some of the Lines here in the Houston area are more than a Half mile Long right now.

In my town Satellite beach the police ran out of gas, along with the fire department. With TWO Sheriff friends we have proposed a program where select stations would have gen sets and would remain open 24-7 for emergency cars and trucks ONLY. Ya can't have fire and police with no car to drive.

They also found out that police cars can not talk to other cars because the repeaters are not powered. They now have gen-sets.

We have a gen-set that is Natural Gas powered from a pipe in the ground, and it worked fine but that assumes the GAS company where ever they are has pumping power.

The Natural Gas pumping station a couple miles up the road from me uses Natural Gas from the line to run the compressor. I thought that was pretty cool!

I have no idea if there are other controls at the station that use grid power or not.

Same way here.. We have 3 big NG pipelines that run right along the east side of town with a large pumping station that take in NG at 200 psi or so incoming and boost it back up 600 psi for the trip north to chicago we were told... Everything in that pumping station is powered right off the mains gas lines along with a Big A$$ gen set...
