We get theses types of messages all the time. We DO have a paypal account and it sems like ours say something about suspicous activity. they want you to log in. I click on the link and then "log in" using BAD WORDS. I like to mess with the people phising. If it lets me log in and asks me to "update" my proflie; I make it up as I go along.

I get these all the time. Seems as though someone in Romania is trying to access my account. Good advice on logging in with bogus username and making up your profile as I go along. I'll have to try that.

They got my brother once. He was trying to log into his suntrust account and couldn't remember his password or something. Then just by chance he got a fake email a min or two after that saying someone was trying to log into his account. So he followed the link and tried to log in and then afterward realized it was fake. The people emptied his accounts and somehow suntrust reimbursed him/got the money back.

He was using IE and the fake link he went to showed the https://suntrust stuff only because they had rigged it up to show a picture over the URL bar which somehow you can do in IE. When you opened the thing up in Firefox you could easily see it wasn't suntrust's URL.

The message I got was unusual activity, someone had bought a watch on my Pay Pal account for $474.00. If I didn't contact them by a certain date the sale would be allowed to go through. Let it go through, I don't have a Pay Pal account.

One way to know if you have a legit email is if they use your full name, and dont send a link for you to log into. Below is the REAL email from paypal that i got after i did a high dollar transaction. I x'd out some of my personal info.

Dear DXXX WXXX,

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the PayPal system. During a recent screening, we noticed an issue regarding your account.

PayPal occasionally performs credit checks on selected account holders. Your account has been selected to go through this process. We must complete a credit review in order for the warning on your account to be lifted. In most cases, the account holder's personal credit is analyzed using a Social Security number and an address likely to generate a match with a credit bureau. Please log into your PayPal account to provide this information. If an examination of your business credit would be more appropriate, please contact our customer service department to supply your Tax ID number.

Case ID Number: PP-471-667-XXX

For your protection, we have limited access to your account until additional security measures can be completed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

To review your account and some or all of the information that PayPal used to make its decision to limit your account access, please visit the Resolution Center. If, after reviewing your account information, you seek further clarification regarding your account access, please contact PayPal by visiting the Help Center and clicking "Contact Us".

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,
PayPal Account Review Department
