Peoria, IL to Colorado Springs, CO

Anybody have any suggestions for the trip out there? I am shooting to take 80 across. Is there a lot of good quality diesel stations along the way?

Either 80 or 70, they both will have quite a few truck stops to buy your fuel at.

I was told 80 was the quickest by multiple people. May take that there and 70 on the way back.

It is a toss up. MapQuest shows it close enough not to make any difference. I-70 is shorter but I-80 is about 50 miles longer and a few minutes longer time. If you take 70 there is more 2 lane where 80 would be all freeway once you get on it.

From Mt Pleasant, IA I run 70 every time. Lot of good clean truck stops and hotels. I run hwy 34 in SE Iowa to 35, south to Kansas City, then catch 70 and run to Limon and take 24 into Co Springs. 80 is a rough riding crowded nightmare, I've done it a couple of times when my brother in law from Des Moines came with. The only part of the rt 70 stretch once I get on it is the hwy 24 part and it's a 65 mph 2 lane for maybe an hour.
