Being that the springs are longer and your looking to run a block you could install the longer springs then do a shackle flip on the rear and adjust the amount of lift with what ever lenth shackle you use.. Just a shackle flip will ride better and allow more articulation. You can move the hanger to where you need it on the frame for the longer springs and to give you a good shackle angle then use a zero rate or drill the perches to center the axle in the fender.

here is a shackle flip you could use.

How do these work on a 04 with normal springs and blocks?
Can you show me a pic?
Would these allow me to get rid of 4"s of block with my current springs?
Do these REALLY help the ride?
If so I will get a set.

The kit come with everything you need, the new hangers, grade 5 bolts washers and nyloc lock nuts. http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116008&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00158.j pg[/img]

first things first youll need to get some paint on the hangers I used automotive primer and flat black paint from a rattle can
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116014&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00164.j pg

A couple of tools that will make your life easier are an air chisel, impact wrench, and a grinder.
http://www.superford.org/getfile.php...f=Dsc00165.jpg

The first step after painting is to make sure you have a safe work area
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116016&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00166.j pg
If you dont have a set of those things above BUY SOME they are only 25 bucks and mine are 6 ton stands

Once everything is up and secure you are rady to begin removing the old hangers.
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116021&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00171.j pg

First thing is to remove the axle and rear springs to give you a little more room
this is where the impact wrench comes in those bolt can be difficult.
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116026&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00174.j pg
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116027&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00175.j pg

Once you have room to work it is time to remove the old shackles. They are rivoted on so you will have to get the rivots off. an air chisel works but there is ample room to get a 4.5 inch grinder in there so whatever is convienant for you I like spark so here I am
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116030&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00177.j pg

Once the rivots are all ground off I used a shop hammer to knock the hangers off of the frame and a round punch to knock out the rivots.
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116037&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00183.j pg

The Sky MAN hangers are designed to match the original bolt holes but you will need to run a 1/2 inch drill bit through the hole to ream them out so the bolts fit.

This next part I didnt get pics because I found out I needed a new gas tank and was Pissed sorry guys.

To boly the hangers on you will need to drop the gas tank so you can reach the inside of the frame. This is pretty sinple there are about 6 bolt on the front and rear of the skidplate. remove them and the tank will drop enough to reach the fuel lines disconnect them and move the tank out of your way.

after that simply bolt the hangers through the existing bolt holes make sure it is torqued down and replace the springs on your truck.
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116042&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00189.j pg[

Reinstall your gas tank, and axle and youre in business. remember to bleed your brakes when reattach the brake line to your axle.

I didnt reuse the factory ! inch block and my pinion angle is near perfect. The flip does also move you axle forward about 1 inch.

Here is a base line of where I started this measurement is with the factory block
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116020&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00170.j pg

and here is the end result WITHOUT the factory block
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116038&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00184.j pg

Here is a comparison of the factory hangers and the sky man hangers notice tha difference in thickness
[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116036&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00182.j pg

[img]http://www.superford.org/getfile.php?id=116035&toggle=fullsize&f=Dsc00181.j pg

This flip can also be done with hangers from a F-250 or 350 but for the price ($150) shipped to your door These are well worth it they are well made very beefy and you dont have to go to a junk yard and spend all day removing them.
you can search the subject on many forums

here is a chevy shackle flip we did with a ORD kit.. 7inch shackle 1" zero rate and 2"block for a total of about 8" of lift

Well I'm wanting to run a OUO Traction Block Setup like this:

One Up Offroad

The smallest one they make is 4". I am only running 1" of block on my current setup. The 08 springs, being longer, give a better ride (some say even better than the ICON 5" springs) and have the load capacity of the 08 rear springs. Plus I just want to do it!!! lol

When you get you kit all finished make sure you post some pics so we can copy it .

I dont know to much about building suspensions, but it seems that if there is and even amount of spring on each side of the center pin and if they are the same width as the stock springs and hangers, you could simply move each bracket out 4" or enough to clear it, Idk just spit balling here.

When you figure it out I call first dibs on you icons.

The springs are not even on each side of the center pin. The front half of the leaf spring is 8" shorter than the back half. Do the front hanger has to be moved 8" forward for the new springs. Should have a set of new, bolt in front hangers (for the 08 springs) by mid January. I'll keep everyone updated and do a full write up with pictures when I install them.

Bringing up an old post. Been tied up with other things and havent had the time to deal with the spring conversion. I did find someone to build a set of 08 Conversion Hangers. He put a TON of resarch and design into these things and they look great. The powder coater finished them today. Everything should be shipping out Monday. Once I get them I will be doing a full write up on the install, so stay tuned. They will be available for purchase if anyone else is looking to convert. His name is Trevor and he owns Precision Metal Fab. Here is a link to his website where you can see some of his other work:

Are you converting the front and rear? I thought you were only doing the rear? Are the pics in the post above only to show the quality of his work? I am a little confused.

I am doing the rear only, my truck is a 2005 so its already coil spring, plus I have the ICON 4-link. Those pictures were to show his other work. But I'll probably end up with his traction blocks too (2nd and 3rd pics)
