PAT's security system problems

On my 01 Ex the issue is that I have to disarm the system every time I go to start it either with the key FOB or the key pad. Can't really remember when it started, but it is quite annoying. I have tried to reset it by turning the key to on for 45 seconds, removing the key for 30 seconds and re-inserting the key.

Also, I was working on TPS on the accelerator and removed the upper lining under the dash and noticed what looked like a push button switch however the push button was missing. It is connected to the PAT's by 2 brown wires.

Any ideas on what's going on, I would like to disarm the system, or get back to original where I can just get in my truck, start it and go.

Thanks

PATS is a factory embedded security system that cannot be removed or disabled. There are no buttons or switches in the system and it works "passively" with no no action from you. Your post leads me to think that you have some aftermarket alarm system installed in the truck that has to be disarmed.

Thanks, I'm not sure if I'm looking at the PAT's system or not,

Here is what I have

brown wires

wires go to what I think is a button but looks like it's missing the button part

If you can use any other info, please let me know.

Thanks

As I suspected. THAT is a Ford dealer installed accessory security system. Yes, the button is missing from the deactivation switch which is a momentary push button switch. The system can be removed by carefully disconnecting the wires from the tire taps on the wires going to the ignition switch. There will be one or two wires that are completely cut that will need to be spliced back together. Likewise it could be repaired.

Tire taps ??

Would it be easier to replace the momentary switch and figure out how the settings work. I would imagine that switch also puts it into Valet mode.

That switch has several functions. Yes, it can be replaced with a like switch.
