I switched to a Nations alternator about a year and a half ago ,I'm running the Tad 190 alternator after running thru 3 parts store alternators . I tried one new and two rebuilts and nothing lasted longer than 6 months.

alternator failing so replaced it today

The battery light came on so today I replace the alternator. Excursion has 181000 miles not too bad for a 16 year old truck. I got the Auto Zone new replacement 110A since the old one was 110A and served me well.

My batteries were old so I purchased 2 new ones and the Alternator (10 years old) seems to be working fine now.

On a related note (and the subject of one of my separate posts) my positive battery terminal end (drivers side) is so corroded that it needs an immediate repair. Today I got DTC's for a bunch of crap related to the PCM which indicates that I've got some kind of battery problem and the bad connection seems like a good place to start.

Hate to replace the entire cable but am struggling to find a good replacement terminal connector to attach to the cable. (I've read that replacing the entire cable is a bit if a PITA in addition to being an expensive cable).

I would do the whole cable. Either buy one, have one made, or make your own.

Roger that. I may build the entire cable on my own with MIL Grade Hardware. Friggin hate the stock cable.

Some like switching to the stud post. But whichever will work. Just go big on the cable. Lol

I used FICM Repair. Bought the Leece Neville 230 Amp Alternator with overdrive pully and the wiring up grade. I had 3 dead FICM's due to voltage problem. I will have this on both my 6.0's.

Good idea. I suspect that I'll be needing a FICM as well. Think I'll go with the Atlas 40 tune.

Thanks for the vote of confidence. Do you have ARP HG's? My motor is stock with original HG's and I'm afraid to have too much of a tune.

All stock except fot the alternator, FICM and egr cooler. I'm looking at the Edge CTS2 with variable tuning. Just don't intend to hammer it all the time. Will bullet proof when the time comes.

Thanks for your reply. I'm going to limp through the winter and do the FICM install when it warms up. Wish I'd done it last fall because my truck won't run right until the EOT is > 150 degrees.
