It is difficult to say without indepth diagnosis. It might be a simple sensor or it might be the high pressure fuel pump that has failed.
If the high pressure fuel pump failed and sent metal through the fuel system it would be a very expensive repair upwards of $10,000.
I would walk away from the truck regardless of the condition or price and search for another truck.
