2016 fuel mileage?

How are people getting 15-20mpg out of these 2015-16 6.7. I have a 16 crew cab long bed I'm getting no more then 12.8-13 and maybe 14 on the highway. Since the dealer did an update with the ecm to help keep from getting the jack hammering issues its worse, Anything I can do to help with out deleting it?

I am getting about 13 to to well over 20.
Average about 15-16.
While hunting last fall I was in the low 20's on one 1500km trip, there and back. But the cool air and calm conditions probably helped a lot.
But it's a 13 mpg truck when I'm in the city.
I have heard the update alters the regen, but I was told to expect better mpg. I'm not planning on a reflash.

I've only put about 1500 miles on my 2016 crew and I haven't done a hand calculation in terms of mileage yet. But the computer is telling me I'm getting 16.8-17 when I'm driving. As I said it's still really low miles so keep that in mind.

What do you have for a rear end? That will make some difference from what I understand.

Ouch! My best is 23.2 on a 500 mile trip and I have 3.55 gears and 20" tires. I range between 16 and 19 in mixed driving, but regens can impact the MPG so you have to keep that in mind. With that said, I have read on a couple of the forums the reprogramming of the PCM to stop the "jack hammer" has resulted in lower MPG.

I also have a 3.55 rear end and 20" tires. Will love to be able to get 20mpg. I don't think I've really gotten it broken in yet and a lot of my driving is just around the rural area where I live so a lot of <50 mph driving.

On a couple of highway drives I've done with 65-70mph driving I'm above 17mpg (again according the computer) so I'll take that over what I used to get with my 6.0 gas GMC.

My dash shows this and is usually pretty close. Most of this driving was at 55-60 but did have about 20 miles of city driving. All was empty except for some turkey hunting gear.

Any HWY speeds over 70 will keep the MPGs low. I have found the best MPG speeds are 55-60 as ELKHOUNDS posted.

Sorry guys my computer is giving me problems. I have the 3.55 gears. Im also having regens ever 300-355 miles. Since the flash the transmission shifts like crap and my milage is down. So how does the computer work? Do you guys reset it after every fill up? Mine even if I'm on the highway for 2-3 hours never seems to move. I called the dealer today and like always says there nothing wrong. The guy pretty much told me most people lie about there mileage.

Ummm...hmmm. About that--here is a picture that I had handy for mine from a trip I took when I first bought it. I have seen this more than once too so it is not a fluke:

Regens every 300-350 miles is not normal unless you are driving nearly 100% of the time in town or are short-tripping it. But as I said before, regens will lower the MPG so if you are having regens that often, it would explain the lower MPG. On the open road, I usually see a regen about every 500-600 miles and in mixed driving about every 400-500 miles.

Psd I believe you guys that's what he was saying. Did you have the elm update for the jack hammering issues? I didn't have a problem but when I took it in have fuel filters change they updated the ecm?

No; fortunately, I have not experienced the jack hammering and I am guessing at 14K I will not ever experience it. It seems that some engines experience it and others do not. I do all of my own maintenance, fuel filters will be changed in the next 1000 miles and I have been diligent on the oil changes.

I changed the FF at 1500 and then two more at about 4,500 miles each. I have ran full synthetic for all but one OC (Kendall SynBlend in the sump now). While I have some conventional Delo, I will probably mix it with Delo full synthetic to create a blend. I am not saying the oil has anything to do with jack hammer, but I have had 2.9% to 3.7% fuel dilution so I do not see these engines capable of extended OCIs.

Bobcat I do reset trip A every fillup and reset the current mileage. I use trip B for our longer trips to see how far we ended up going and a ballpark idea of mileage. I still record everything on fuelly.com to get exact mileage. I have found my dash is within about .5 mpg of hand calculated. I also have not taken mine in for the flash. I have 5Star DPF ON tunes and just leave it on the towing tune. Maybe after the camping season I'll try the performance tune for a while but for now I leave it on tow.

You're going to want to reset the fuel mileage screen after every fill up. If you don't it won't change much.
But if you want your true MPG figures you should hand calculate.

My new F 450 with a 4.30 rear end got 15.7 on the first tank. And it seems speeds between 55 and 60 work best for economy, even during break in.

I get 15 16 around town 20 highway on my '13 CC with 20" tires and 3.55 gears. If I keep the RPMs at 1500 it seems to be a sweet spot and log the best MPG according to the computer. Around town I lock out fifth and sixth to keep the engine from lugging down and the regens seem to be less frequent.
