So out of curiosity why not with a fifth wheel? Just not necessary or not recommended?

I am curious about this as well. Why no sway bar when pulling a fifth wheel?

Was told Ford engineering recommends not to because having a stiffer truck sends more energy through to the 5th wheel (bumps in the road) so the trailer absorbs more impact if you will.

Ive had sway bars on every Dually I've owned in the last 13 yrs,it's been many.I tow a 43 ft gooseneck trailer,I dont have any issues. The sway bar only keeps truck from swaying either right or left.It has No effect on up and down movement of truck.

Anyone have an idea what it is and if I am ok to use? It is on the back side of the axle.
I did the EXACT same thing . Got an alert light on the dash when i started it... Corrected the install. Tube was smashed but intact. light on dash hasn't returned .

Installed the BigWig today. Short test ride gave good results with no issues. Tomorrow will be a good test with HWY on/off ramp turns. I need a set of calipers to know the front OEM sway bar size to compare to the front Hellwig dimensions.

@larrgh: You need to see a Hellwig beside the OEM for yourself.
