P228F Code Pressure Regulator - Pressure too high

Hey Friends, I had my 2013 F250 6.7 throw the P228F code and the CEL came on. The next day, the CEL went off by itself. The truck has always run fine. I am good about changing fuel filters and draining the water separator. I have never seen any water in the separator. Anyways, I want to pull the Pressure Control Valve/Pressure Regulator and see if there is rust of if it is gummed up. I dont know where the heck it is!! Anyone know were I can access the Pressure regulator/Pressure Control Valve? Those are the same thing right??? I feel like I have seen them both used in different threads. Thanks!

If you think they are the same thing and you have no idea where they/it are/is then do you really think you should be messing with this engine to begin with? This DTC could be caused by a base engine fault, a faulty injector, VCV, PCV, biased FRP sensor, low pressure system fault and or a bad high pressure fuel pump. The question is, with all of these possibilities do you have the test equipment and resources to diagnose this concern? Do you feel lucky? Well do ya?

But I am not a total ass, to answer your question the VCV is located on the HPFP itself and the PCV is located at the rear of the left fuel rail.
