Power Folding Mirror Brass Replacement Gears

Just ran across this looking for parts for the Denali.

This brass set of gears is made for our folding mirrors. Seems like a great deal instead of dealing with the cost of a new mirror or replacing plastic gears.

Has anyone used this yet? I seem to recall someone posting a repair to the plastic gears quite a while ago but I have not seen this part before. Wondering how to access the gears …..

I posted the link. I ordered a set for my wife's Denali and had them in a week. So, he is legitimate. Can't speak specifically on the SD units.

There is a thread on this site, albeit old, that walks you through the disassembly and JB weld for the fix.

Re: 2011, F250, XLT, 76,000+ miles

Power fold mirror, driver side, hic cup. Sometimes opens ok after sitting overnite. But then not close. Tries, but closes maybe 1/3 way. Makes a “clunk” sound near end of travel when opens. Pass side mirror folds ok.

My question is anyone knows of any repair shop or shops “somewhere USA”, a mirror can be shipped for reasonable price of repair. Gotta be cheaper than a $450-1,000 for new mirror, shipping included!

Ford, et al really proud of their mirrors, huh? And if I get these brass gear kit, take truck to a Ford dealer, they prob not touch.

I have Ford Protect, but the middle plan, and does it not cover these darn mirrors.

Well, recently, got can of spray lube, with the plastic extension tube. Was able to work it in the seams of the folding leverage of the mirror, spray lots of lube. LOTS!
Both top and bottom joints. And darn mirror opens, closes as it should operate. Smooth, no clicks or clunk noise.

I had seen pics in another post on how to get to motor actuator and gears, saw a 3 piece spring. Spring has unusual shape and what looks like a detent built in, to maybe hold mirror out after opened? I am of course guessing at this, not knowing how these mirror motor/gearbox mechanism really works. I am not dumb to anything mechanical, have fixed lots of items, components. You be surprise what one can do with a nail, as pivot or hinge pin.

I will monitor the mirror actions see what happens. Hoping not have to spend $450-1100!
