Towing with a large family

Hey all. Does anyone here have a larger family (4 or more) and tow a trailer? If so, how do you guys make it work with the obviously limited seating in our trucks?

Well, there is only one way to make it work. If your truck only has seats for 5 (console instead of the jump seat), and you have 6 people, you need two vehicles. Or 6 seats and have 7 people, same thing. There is just no other way around it. With that many people, plus all the gear, you're gonna need a lot of truck, and a lot of trailer. Your only other option (assuming a travel trailer and not a 5th wheel), is an Excursion. Which of course is not made anymore.

I feel your pain. We only had three kids but a couple of our trucks would only accommodate 5 in total so we got lucky. Or more to the point, I didn't get lucky again. You may want to consider a motorhome.

My buddy has a family of six.

He ended up getting a regular size 2014 E350 with the 5.4.

Works great for his family.

He did say that going down the mountains out west sucked!

He also said that he will only do 60MPH on the highway.

His camper is under 6000 lbs.

Interesting concept, but they apparently don't make them for the Superduty. And not sure they would be safety certified for the U.S. But neat idea.
