Upgrade to 05 Brakes or Aftermarket...

On my 03 dually I have had continous brake issues, surely do to spirited diving and lots of towing! But what I am wondering is, what must I do to upgrade to 05 brakes or am better off going with some set of aftermarket? I know I am goin to need bigger Wheels (I already have a set of 19.5s picked out) but what I am really looking for is part numbers and or brands. Thanks!

Re: Upgrade to 05 Brakes or Aftermarket...

If your 03 is 4WD, you could go with the Performance Friction 2-piece rotors with Z-rated pads. Several folks on these boards, myself included, have been extremely happy with this upgrade. Check it out HERE! Hope this helps.

Re: Upgrade to 05 Brakes or Aftermarket...

I installed EGR Performance rotors and their carbon/kevlar pads on all 4 corners 2 weeks ago. The difference in braking is amazing. For everything it was just short of $1300. Keith

Re: Upgrade to 05 Brakes or Aftermarket...

I didn't know that anything was out for an upgrade as of yet for the '05. They are already an increased size, I don't know for sure how much but if it were me I would run what you have until you need to do something different or at least until more options are available.

Re: Upgrade to 05 Brakes or Aftermarket...

Viperkiller- This is off topic, but I notice you have manual 4wd(non ESOF) in your sig. Do you still get auto hubs with this or do you have to get out to lock them in? I am in the process of ordering a new truck and wondered.

Re: Upgrade to 05 Brakes or Aftermarket...

yes you must get out and lock them.
Also i should have made my post more clear, I did not mean are there aftermarket brakes for the 05, I was wondering if anyone has or are retrofiting the 05 brakes on earlier models such as 03...

Re: Upgrade to 05 Brakes or Aftermarket...

I had the same issues with my '03 F-350 CC Dually 4x4.If you put frozen rotors and Z rated pads from performance friction, you will never warp rotors again!I have over 60,000 mi on mine.No problems.I tow over 10,000 lbs plus truck all the time.Go to www.frozenrotors.com and check them out.You will be glad you did. This site gives you the details of their rotor treatment.Good Luck! Re: Upgrade to 05 Brakes or Aftermarket...

Well I ended up doing the slotted rotors and blueprinted calipers up front, as well as the carbon kevlar pads and ss brakelines front and rear, and to top it off the Motul synthetic fluid. It made an incredible improvement, for a reasonable price (when it comes to brakes!). I would def recommend, to others. any questions, I would be happy to answer!
