Need opinions on recent purchase

Picking up a 69k mile 05 Ex. I had it checked out by a Performance Diesel shop in Tampa, FL (I'm in Northern WI) it's going to be a daily driver with possibly a couple longer road trips a year towing 5-7k

I plan on flying down and driving it home the 1600 miles.

Here is what the shop said and what they want to do the work they recommend.

Diagnosis of entire vehicle:

-New Oil Filter/Cap (wrong one installed) - Needs Oil Change
-New Coolant, add a Coolant Filter
-Rear Vent Motors not working (fuse?)
-Rear HVAC not working, blower not working. (fuse?)
-Power steering flush needed oil dark
-Hot Side Intercooler Boots both leaking
-Oil cooler possibly leaking, has small up top oil leak, need to add
dye to confirm
-Future possible High Pressure Oil Pump (pressure is a little low)
-Standpipes, Dummy Plugs and STC Fitting
-Auto 4wd Engagement does not work, probable wheel
hub seals
-Drives and Stops straight-Mechanically vehicle is everything you would expect from an untouched 69k mile (very clean & well kept)

Repairs:

1 - Oil filter = $25.00
1 - Oil Filter Cap OEM 6.0 = $32.00
1 - Oil Change Service Charge for Oil and Labor = $75.00
1 - 6.0 Hot Side Upper Intercooler Boot hot side = $72.42
1 - 6.0 Hot Side Lower Intercooler Boot hot side = $83.52
1 - Set 6.0 High Pressure Oil Stand Pipes = $124.44
1 - Set 6.0 Dummy Plugs Dummy Plugs = $66.00
1 - 6.0 STC Fitting for High Pressure Oil Pump = $95.72
2 - Gallons Coolant Zerex G-05 = $44.00
3 - Gallons Distilled Water $6.00
1 - Gallon Power Steering = $24.99
1 - Parts Power Steering Flush with Simple Green = $70.00
6 - hours Labor @ $90.00 = $540.00
Total $1259.09*

* Will be enough time in the 6 hours to check out the HVAC, Auto 4WD and check the front end while it's on the lift.

My Stuff:
Install my spare edge insight CTS (Need starter cable with EGT)
Want Rotella ELC Concentrate or similar.
Install my Blue Spring Upgrade

Anything you wouldn't have them do or something I should have them do while they are at it. Its 5 hours each way to the closest diesel shop to me once I get it home.

I would have the turbo disassembled and cleaned, clean out exhaust back pressure tube and you might as well have them replace the thermostat while the system is empty.

I'd want the OC delta checked to see if the cooler is bad. Coolant filter kit installed. Personally, on a '05 I'd delete the EGR cooler. And everything that BGilton79 said too.

'02 WRX - Outback rear disc swap, EBC green pads, DBA pillar vane rotors, TXS UP/TBE/TMIC, Perrin LW crank pulley, PPG billet steel shift forks, ACT Streetlite flywheel & clutch, K&N filter, STi Group N motor/trans mounts, TiC/Kartboy rear diff mounts/subframe lock bolts/outrigger stiffeners, Kartboy SS & all shifter bushings, custom PDX tune for Cobb AP - went 14.1 on a terrible 60ft before most of these mods; shooting for 13.50s

He did take it for a long test drive with his lap top and checked and monitored everything and said injectors and coolant pressures were all good.
The EOT/ECT delta under 10
If it needs a cooler I would definitely delete the EGR at that time.

Seems the cooler is good then, but if they have to open the cover to fix a leak I'd have them replace the cooler as preventative maintenance and delete the EGR cooler at that time as the intake has to come off.

Wow you found a low mileage X with a diesel. That is a rare animal! When they have it apart change out the turbo drain tube and oil pressure line to the turbo. The current one is a braided line with a rubber inside and they can collapse and block oil flow. If the feed is solid steel then that is ok. Don't touch it. Also do the blue spring update to the fuel filter assembly. Remember since the X's were killed off this likely has a late model 04 engine (a few got 05 engines but very few). So that means it likely has the iron HPOP cover and the swash plate pump. See if a magnet will stick to the cover under the turbo. If it does then it is an 04, if it does not then it is an aluminum cover and you have an 05 engine with the STC fitting. The 04s with the Iron cover do not have the STC fitting. Good luck, we love our 05 X. Has been a good truck.

On the carfax it says 8/18/2005 Vehicle manufactured and shipped to dealer.
