Oil temp skyrockets in park

So I’m driving around town. Oil and water temps about 196 all day.Hit a stop and then get back in and crank it up. Sounds great.

Start to drive and it sounds whiny, like I’m in the wrong gear. I take it slow and go thru all the gears. No problem. I look at the gauges and I’m 247 for oil and water.

I pull over and shut it off for a few
Minutes. After ten, I crank it up and look at the gauges and oil is climbing 210-211-213.. a degree every couple of seconds.
(In park). Tried this a couple of times and just decided to tow it to a shop before something really bad happened. It might’ve already.

Bad sensors? Blown oil cooler? I’ve had a delta of 9 for the past couple of years. Nowhere near the 15 degree mark..

Hard to imagine both coolant and oil temps going bad at the same time.

How is your coolant level? Maybe a water pump failure?

Coolant temps over 221*F will cause the PCM to begin to restrict the engine load.

Just curious. How much would a otherwise- excellent running 6.0 with 135k with blown head gaskets be worth?

Any time I have ever bought a vehicle with issues I assumed the worst and paid like that and got it priced like that. Says its a 15K truck and it has blown head gaskets. There is no way to know if the heads are cracked and what else they may need. So I would say $8K because I may have to do $7k and wouldn't want to have more than the perfect running price in it once I got it to that condition. Tires, brakes or anything else I see that it will need soon also reduces my offer. If you went to trade it they'd probably put $4500 in it in real money.

BUT, you weren't blowing coolant out of cap. Was the coolant tank empty? I have had 6.0 with bad fan clutch and they would be fine until they weren't and the PCM would command fan % up but the fan clutch would not drive fan faster and the temps would shoot up.

DO you think the shop did a cooling system pressure test or ??? Did they just say it's a 6.0 and needs head gaskets?
