Any time I have ever bought a vehicle with issues I assumed the worst and paid like that and got it priced like that. Says its a 15K truck and it has blown head gaskets. There is no way to know if the heads are cracked and what else they may need. So I would say $8K because I may have to do $7k and wouldn't want to have more than the perfect running price in it once I got it to that condition. Tires, brakes or anything else I see that it will need soon also reduces my offer. If you went to trade it they'd probably put $4500 in it in real money.
BUT, you weren't blowing coolant out of cap. Was the coolant tank empty? I have had 6.0 with bad fan clutch and they would be fine until they weren't and the PCM would command fan % up but the fan clutch would not drive fan faster and the temps would shoot up.
DO you think the shop did a cooling system pressure test or ??? Did they just say it's a 6.0 and needs head gaskets?
