Seems to be a thing with f250's, I've got a 6.7L and it's got a tick. The noise seems to occur after oil changes--"they" say just tighten the fittings.

The typewriter syndrome is unique to the 6.7s. You'd never hear that over the natural clatter of a 7.3 anyway...

I got my center eat off ebay last year. Make sure you get seat belt and screws with it. You have to put by the center ceat in first. When putting it back together.

You must have been just the right distance away when you took the photos, since you mentioned the paint job was so-so.

If its same engine as mine, i have late '99 7.3... watch out for the OIL PAN. Have pulled my engine 3+ times do to twice was the oil pan itself and others for dip stick tubes and front/ rear main seals. These things are impossible once the leak starts. Best of luck with leaks!
