Radiator / Transmission cooler question

My 2000 350 had a 2 core radiator that died a couple years back. I replaced it with a 4 core that has a transmission cooler in it. Now I want to use that cooler but not sure which port to use for inbound hot fluid.

Then I assume I use the radiator exit port and continue on to the crappy little 6 or 9 row transmission cooler out in front of the radiator.

It makes absolutely no difference which port is in or out. It's just a spiral tube inside the lower part of the radiator. No directionality. Yes, out from the radiator into the crappy stock cooler - or, if you really want some cooling, upgrade to the 26 row cooler. You still will want to use the radiator cooler with the upgrade.

Thank you. I may upgrade to the larger cooler later but we are planning a trip 1st of September to the mountains and cooler outdoor temps should help.

That PDF is the one I was looking for. Read it a couple years ago and lost it.

I did route the trans lines through the radiator, no problems. Ran just the truck only on the freeway this week and trans temp was running at around 160. Outside temp was 80 or 85. So I'm thinking I may be in trouble if it's running 160 without my 10K trailer. Maybe I should go on and do the upgrade on the cooler now.

Thoughts?

That's about normal for the small cooler. Your temps with the large cooler will be about 60-65 over ambient. I'm running about 160 unloaded right now with outside temps in the low 100s.
