I have replaced a couple injectors twice. I was surprised myself as I keep a log of all maintenance I do on the truck. The only injectors that had not been replaced were #1 and #5 and both recently failed the 'buzz' test after experiencing a rough cold idle. There is no real science. I have never used a fuel additive or have I overly maintained the truck. Some of the same people that swear by fuel additives swear not to use Fram filters...the only filters, both fuel and oil that have been used on the truck.

My most recent update:

300,000 miles: Driver's side caliper bracket with rusted solid slide pins, passenger side slide pins.
304,000 miles: New 4R100 transmission and flexplate. This is the original transmission, anyone got more miles than that on the original?

1999.5 F250 creeping up on 400k.

Check your wiring harness: Chaffed wiring at driver's valve cover.

Keep everyone (and yourself) updated:7.3 mileage and repair thread

If you insist on throwing parts at your truck to fix the problem, go big--don't forget the driver's side frame rail.

If your ICP connector has oil in it, change it. Don't argue, just change it. Don't check other things first, just change it.

Since I owned the truck in June, I've done the following major repairs all at 215k. Previous owner neglected the truck apparently, but I guess you can say I got a good deal

* Oil pan
* PS Pump
* IPR and ICP
* Steering gear
* Front hub
* Rear springs
