boost issue

so i just went for a drive and washed my truck and on my way i was watching my boost gauge and it didnt move much, apon going from a stop light it would show about 10 right before i shift. and cruising at 55 it was about 4. and at wot it would get about 16 but would take a long time to get there. like half a mile of wot. . my egts are always about 400, and when cold 600.
i also have some oil on the top of my engine the the "valley". and looks like the bottom of the turbo is a little dark in old oil. the truck has 248,688

really need help my dp f5 is on its way and i dont want to blow up something

The turbo is heat driven so thats why the low boost on the freeway. Get your DP in and take the hose of the waste gate. I pulled 40psi like this. Not good for long periods of use as the turbo can't take it.

Courage is not the absence of fear but being afraid and moving forward anyway.

Cruising at around 60 with a tune without going uphill, pulling, etc, I see only 4-5 lbs. I wouldn't think your boost numbers are too far off for a stock truck. I know I have no boost leaks. If I hammer into it, boost will easily climb to around 26 or 27 lbs on my truck before ses light comes on and I back out of it.

If you're that concerned, dieselsite has a nice boost leak detector for about 65 bucks.

If you put a chip in, and you still can't get much over 20 lbs, then I would start to look into a potential boost leak.

Just for peace of mind, you could check all your intercooler boots, just to make sure they are nice and tight.
