Gary-
as long as the end of the hose is not clogged with ice or snow, you should be OK.

What about using a tranny cooler type of condenser for the most condensing affect.

Re: Finally Did My CCV Bypass Mod

Is the factory set up for venting the CCV into the turbo inlet causing any real problems for the engine or performance of the truck?

I would like some advise on this issue.

It can if the air charge cooler gets full of oil. The oil in the intake system will also soften the rubber hoses and make them leak causing boost to be lost.

Re: Finally Did My CCV Bypass Mod

Hi Guys
Any one ever hear or this oil catching fire in the turbo , I know the turbos can get pretty hot and could possibly bring that oil to combust , I have heard of this happening to big rigs.
I just put my by-pass last weekend and 500mi's later not a drop of oil in my "T" , I just ordered a 4" stainless thin wall piece of pipe to replace my plasic intake connector.

Re: Finally Did My CCV Bypass Mod

The CCV oil vapors going through the turbo assembly is on the cool side which to my knowledge no flash fires have started.

Another negative result of CCV oil residue coating the passages of the intercooler can also reduce it's cooling ability especially when the hot summer months is upon us.

Hmmm... I'm not sure whether the oil in the CC gas is truly evaporated (a vapor), or if it is a mist of tiny droplets (or most likely a combination of both). If it is truly a vapor, the cooling the vapor will cause condensation, but if it is mostly mist, the cooling would have little effect. Most of the mods I have seen, including Racor's system, include "coalescing media" or something with a lot of surface area for the gas to pass through, and the mist droplets to collect on, join into bigger droplets, drain, etc. One problem with a tranny cooler would be whether it was designed to drain any condensate to a sump for collection. Given that they are designed to flow fluid, not gasses, I doubt that was a design goal for them. Also, given that the oily residue makes it past the turbo, where the gas is heated, and yet still collects on the boots, etc., I would think that most of it is mist, not vapor.

Interesting idea though...
