why do we not run mercon v?

1. Because it is not designed to be used in a 4R100

Because in the owner's manual and Ford's service info it says that MERCON V can cause damage to the E4OD and 4R100 transmissions.

Why do we use diesel rated engine oil instead of regular engine oil? Because it is the right fluid for the job. Same with the transmission fluid.

what i ment was what is the difference in the fluids? is it a rateing or an addtative or ?
