transmission rebuild question

im going to rebuild my trans in my 01 next week and have plans for big oil, turbo,inj, ect. what do u guys reccommend for parts to build a very tough tranny. any info would help

01 F250 4x4 crew cab, 4 in exhaust, diablosport chip, mac cold air, accum valve for trans, 4 in pro comp lift, 22x10 kmc diesels, gauges

99 f350 crew cab, 4 in exhaust, afe cold air, edge ez usually on high settings, gauges , 6.0 convertor, transgo pump switch and shift kit

I would honestly have someone else do the work for you. That is one thing I won't do myself. They will warranty it! If your talking alot of power do it right the first time. Get a BTS http://www.brianstruckshop.com/, john woods, suncoast http://www.suncoastconverters.com/fo..._products.html, or the troyon (sp) in BC. I know there are some more but thats my .02$ They also sell parts and kits to do the rebuilds!

You're not going to find anyone that will condone building your own automatic transmission on this message board other than four/five of us. Expect to be knocked over the head and then run over by the BTS bandwagon. If you're serious about building your own transmission just PM me what you're wanting to build and I'll help you with what I can.

The Suncoast kit is a good one. Just make sure you get a good TC to go with it, as a stock TC is junk.

Contact Richter69. He can tell you what you need to know and need to have to do it yourself. He will also be honest with you about whether it is worth it for you to do it yourself, that depends on a few factors.

For many of us, our tranny is the most important component on our trucks. So, yes, we left it to the professionals (whether that be BTS, Suncoast, John Wood or the purple palace). We have a warranty on parts and labor that we can depend on if need be.

I personally see it as, do you want to pay upfront once for your tranny or over time by buying parts and spending your own time? Either way, just depends where the importance lies for you.

Sure-get the Suncoast rebuild kit, billet input shaft, and triple disc converter. Valve body mods are up to you. That should hold everything you have planned-it does in my truck.

I disagree. The Suncoast kit is repackaged Alto's plus a soft kit. You can save a bunch buying the Alto stuff seperately, if that's the way you decide to go with your build.

As far as converters go, you don't have to buy a triple disk unless you plan on making some power. If you do plan on making some power down the road, Precision wins hands down. They're $1050 straight from Precision, which is a few hundred cheaper than the other "good" converters from the big names. There's even people who will build you a converter for half of that.

Billet input shaft for a nearly stock longblock? If it's for the '01 you're limited by the PM rods. Unless the longblock is going to be upgraded in a big way a stock input shaft works fine, or you can spring the $65 for 5R110 input shaft that drops right in. I used the 5R110 shaft in mine, but my original input shaft was still perfect.

If the build is headed towards the 500+RWHP mark then there's some areas of the transmission that should be addressed after the engine internals are upgraded.

you dont even need the alto clutches, I have stock frictions and steels in my own unit.

1999.5 cc dually

69 mustang, 472", c/4
9 sec alky injected bracket bomber....

529" in the works as we speak
