What will cause an injector to stay wide open for 30 seconds upon deceleration.

I have been having problems with my truck smoking excessively and an intermittent rough idle. We have found that injector #7 is staying grounded or open for 30 - 40 seconds after decel. This is flooding cylinder #7 and causing excessive fuel consumption and smoke. Any ideas? I have Hypermax Stage 1+ split shot injectors with no chip until
problem is found. The injectors just came back from Hypermax so I am thinking wiring problem or electrical. You can see the mods in the sig.

This sounds ugly.
Any codes in the PCM?
I would check for wires that are possibly chaffed in the engine, PCM and IDM harnesses that are grounding when the engine moves on deceleration.
Shorted UVC wire harness?
You said the injectors just came back from Hypermax, did this have this problem before you removed them?

Re: What will cause an injector to stay wide open for 30 seconds upon deceleration.

I bought the truck from an auction with all the mods on it. I took the engine out and put forged rods in it and balanced the bottom end and put head studs in. I also sent the injectors back to Hypermax to have them gone through. The truck had numerous wiring issues we found when working on. I stripped all electronics and gauges etc. out and rewired everything. Hypermax said they found problems with 2 injectors and flow tested all the others and installed new o-rings. Quite a few wires were rubbed raw. We fixed all we found and the truck runs great but just smokes a little at idle and excessively under load. I am boosting 35lbs and egt's are in check. As of now I don't have a chip in it until the problem with #7 is fixed. There are numerous codes in the PCM but the injector codes are high and low side codes on #6 and #8 I believe. I will recheck them and post all codes. Could it be an injector wiring harness problem, or an IDM problem? Any ideas are appreciated. I have an ex Ford Diesel Mechanic who now works at my buddies shop working on it. He has access to all Ford's computers etc. at night.

Check the wire harness under the valve cover, I bet the connection is loose, get the clips to hold them in place.

I have seen more than a few that the valve train rubbed the wires insulation off causing shorts.
