Question Why do my new aftermarket speakers sound worse than the factory ones?

I recently replaced the OEM stereo in my 05’ F250. I figured I would go ahead and replace the factory speakers while I was at it. After I got the stereo all hooked up and working, I wanted to see how much better the new speakers sounded (I hadn’t installed them yet).

So I swapped out one rear speaker for a new Pioneer 6x8 speaker. I fired up the stereo and put all of the sound to the factory left rear speaker, and then put all of the sound to the new Pioneer speaker in the right rear. WOW……the factory speaker sounded much louder, and as far a sound quality goes…I think it actually sounded better then the new Pioneer speaker.

At this point, I’m just thinking about returning all of the new speakers I got, and leaving the factory ones in there.

Anyone else had an experience like that when going to aftermarket speakers?

Sound is subjective, keep the ones you like. But first check the polarity of the speaker wires because that could mess up the sound.

If the factory speakers sound that good, then I would stick with them.

Ford can get a great deal on quality speakers because of the volume they buy. Just because it is OEM does not mean it is not quality.

Well, I ordered a pair of these. About three times the price I paid for the Pioneers....but I've always had great luck with Infinity products. These have got to sound better than the oem speakers......please sound better!! If they sound good, I'll order another pair.

****UPDATE****

Well, I finally got a chance to try out the new Infinity speakers this weekend. Wow...so much better than the Pioneers I tried. The volume level was the same as stock (not quieter), and the sound was so much better.....much more clarity and definition. They were a little pricey, but they made all the difference in the world!

Infinity speakers have been around for a long time back in the day Big set of Infinity speakers and a reel to reel stereo was the big party draw.
