ATF transmission fluid as fuel additive???

There is nothing wrong with running ATF as fuel in a 7.3. The problem is that it does zero to increase lubricity when added to diesel which is at least one point of an addictive. It would be like adding a quart of diesel to every tank of diesel when the quart cost $8.

I think they were more interested in the 30% fuel savings. I think diesel was costing nearly $4 a gallon back then.

Exactly. If you get it for free, clean it (centrifuge or ultrafiltration) and run it. But donít pay full price and add it to your fuel expecting a benefit.

Since some want to bring up legality....
It's also illegal since it's untaxed.

There is a certain amount that you can run before you have to pay taxes on it.

It was discussed way back when in the Alternative Fuels section.

Much the same as manufacturing your own bio.
