Disabling automatic dome light?

The dome light in my 04 F350 is driving me crazy. 95% of my driving is at night. I DO NOT want the damn light to come on every time I turn off the engine! I want it to come on when I open the door, that's it. I'm about to pull the bulbs out entirely.

Is it possible to disable the automatic light that comes on after I turn off the ignition? I read something about some police option that doesn't do this. Something I can do? Maybe a wire I could cut?

My Dad feels the same way about the light in his 05...

It should stay off if you switch the key back to ACC position, and leave it there for the 30 second timeout. If I turn my ignition off and the dome light illuminates, I can turn to dome light switch to ON and then immediately go back to off and the dome light will turn off. I'm not sure if that's how it works from the factory or if it's a function of my alarm/remote start system though. My truck is an '02.

I realize this isn't something that works automatically, but it is a work around that works for me.

Number21- Are you sure your door sensor is working properly ? I don't think the light is supposed to come on unless you open the door.

I've got a different problem. The driver side door switch does not work all the time. Sometimes when I open the door the light does not come on at all. I cannot find the switch to fix it. Do you know where it is located ?

That's what I do, but it still drives me crazy. This is my first Ford and this kind of crap is reminding me why...

Yeah, my dad's 05 does the same thing. But like I said I think there is some kind of police option to turn it off. Or maybe some kind of key on/off/on/lightswitch/seatbelts code or something like how you turn off the seat belt warning?

The switch is on the latch itself.
