mud tires

Who makes the longest lasting, quietest, best value tire that is more agressive than your average A/T tire? Size is 285 75 R16. Looking for a little more traction than my BFG A/T's but hopefully without giving up too much.

2004 F250 XLT 4x4 w/ 6.0 and Torqueshift auto. BFG AT 285 75 R16.

RIP: 1999.5 F250 4x4. Pro Comp 4" front 2.5" rear. BFG AT 285 75 R16.

Re: mud tires

Man...for the money, BuckShot Maxxis Mudders are they way to go for mud tires (saw 285's at the co-op last year for $108 a pop I think). As I'm sure you know, quite ride and tire tread agression are inversely related, but the 285's aren't that bad if you rotate them right (like with every oil change). I've heard lots of good things about Mud Kings also, but can't speak for them personally.

Re: mud tires

I'll second the maxxis buckshots, they just cant be beat for the price. Tires are pretty quiet for a m/t and have good road manners and wear even. If they'd make'em in bigger sizes i guarentee you that's what i'd be running right now.

Re: mud tires

I liked Dunlop Mud Rover's on my old truck.
I got great wear out of them and they were quiet.

Re: mud tires

BFG Mud Terrains (KO) are pretty quiet for a MT. Good wear too. They are night and day in traction from their AT's.

Re: mud tires

Toyo makes a nice long last commercial grade tire. The M55 is what they call a traction and snow tire. Not as aggresive as a mudder but they are a lot better than a AT tire. They have the size you are looking for (285/75 R16) and it is a E rated tire that carries 3740lbs. The dealer said that they will last 60,000 + easily.
