Only start in neutral

00 Super Duty with Automatic sometimes the truck will not go into "Park" and actually engage the lock sometimes unless you let the truck roll while holding the lever as high up as you can on the column and sometimes it wont start unless the truck is in "Neutral". I dont know if there is a switch that controls either function or if a linkage is simply not adjusted properly.

Does anyone have any answers for me and what I should be looking for ?
