Temperature gauge
I have a 2000 F350 7.3 diesel when you turn the ignition key on the temperature gauge goes all the way to hot whether the trucks been running or not.

Probably the temp sensor. Common failure is to HOT. Unplug the wire and the gauge should read COLD. If it does then replace the sensor.
