What is this?

After putting on a new belt, tensioner, idler pulley, & water pump I noticed this tucked away. Anybody know what this is and where itís supposed to be?

Looks like an intake air temp sensor. That would plug into the air filter box on the driver's side. But you're holding it on the passenger side of the engine.

What are you working on, a van or a pickup? With the alternator on the passenger's side, I'm guessing a van. Not exactly sure where the air filter box would be on a van.

From the looks of the picture itís a van. It is a air intake temp sensor should go in the side of the air filter box.

Yes itís a van. The previous owner has built an after intake for this, so that would explain it just dangling around.

Just zip tie it up and out of the way and it'll be fine.

Mine has been hanging inside the fender now for 21 years.
